Half Marathon Pace Chart (Min/Mile + Min/Km)
A half marathon is 13.1 miles (21.1 km). To break 2:00 you need to average 9:09 per mile (5:41 per km) — the single most common goal pace among recreational runners. The chart below covers every realistic finish time.

How to pick your target
Don't pick a round number because it sounds good. Take a recent race result and work forwards:
- From a 10K: add roughly 10–15 seconds per mile to your 10K pace.
- From a 5K: add roughly 30–40 seconds per mile to your 5K pace.
- No recent race? Your target should be a pace you can already hold for an hour in training without falling apart.
Run the first miles slower than goal pace
Half marathons are won and lost between miles 9 and 13. The fresher you feel at the start, the more likely you are to run 20 seconds per mile too fast and pay for it later. Aim to come through the first 3 miles a few seconds per mile slower than target — you cannot bank time in an endurance race.
Practise the pace, don't just read it
Pick your row above, then use the pace calculator to get your exact splits for every mile and kilometre marker. If you're not sure which row is realistic yet, run a recent time through the race-time predictor first. For a sense of where your current fitness sits, see what counts as a good half marathon pace.
